Former Higher Education secretary Prof Francis Gudyanga arrested on charges of corruption and abuse of public office and is currently in custody at Rhodesville Police Station.
In just about a week since dismissal from a Higher Education post, Prof Francis Gudyanga was arrested by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission and is currently in custody at Rhodesville Police Station.
While he was Mines and Mining Development secretary, Gudyanga instructed the State-owned Minerals Marketing Corporation of Zimbabwe (MMCZ) to be subcontracted by the Zimbabwe Republic Police Border Control (ZRP) Unit.
It was later discovered there was no work and it was simply a scam to loot US$1,7 million.
Gudyanga is further accused of operating a one-man MMCZ board issuing himself with hefty allowances in his abuse of Zimbabwe’s mineral resources and aiding illicit financial outflows from the MMMCZ.
The deposed former President Mugabe, himself a US$15 billion dollar thief chose instead of firing Prof Gudyanga, when this came to light, to appoint him as Professor Jonathan Moyo’s deputy in the the Higher Education Ministry.
The criminals who looted billions of national wealth including Mugabe are all well known but because the crimes involve Mugabe, Mnangagwa, Zanu pf stalwarts and securocrats, all promises to recover the loot and effect arrests is just aload of hot air in order to attract more funding from the International world, then loot again!
